Innovation 25: Strategy paper for the future of Japan
“Innovation” is the password to the future. And that also goes for Japan. In a strategy paper entitled “Innovation 25”, Tokyo has published guidelines for the economic and social development of the country for the period to 2025.
The main priority was to create an environment where new economic and social values could develop, with fresh impetus for technological innovation.
Particularly striking is the new philosophy underpinning the education and training system, which is intended to offer the individual greater opportunities for development (independent learning, the promotion of creativity) and courses with a greater emphasis on science and technology.
Mainly inspired by the need to improve links between pure research work and more practical projects, the strategy paper also calls for implementation of the following measures:
• Promotion of interdisciplinary approaches
• Improvement of knowledge management
• Exchange, cooperation and standardisation at an international level (na/pd)
