Free Trade Agreements
Negotiations begin on free trade agreement between Switzerland and Japan
The Federal Council has given the green light for starting negotiations on a comprehensive economic partnership and free trade agreement between Switzerland and Japan.
Negotiations are expected to commence as soon as possible and conclude as early as next year. The agreement would be the first of its kind between Japan and a European partner.
The free trade agreement should help improve the framework conditions for economic exchange with Japan, and create additional incentives for furthering bilateral economic relations and strengthening the competitiveness of companies in both countries. (seco)
