Investments - Spain
Spain keen to improve water quality.
There are plans for a noticeable improvement in the quality of Spain’s water. As part of this process, Madrid has put together a “Plan Nacional de Calidad des Aguas (PNCA)”, with funds of around EUR 19 billion available up to 2015 for the plan’s implementation.
The aims of the PNCA encompass all aspects of water management, including the decontamination of lakes and rivers, the treatment of municipal and industrial sewage, and the treatment of sewage sludge. This also means a wealth of business opportunities for foreign companies.
The responsibility for implementing the measures proposed in the PNCA lies with the autonomous regions. As such, the organisation of the public procurement process and the choice of contractor are also matters for the regions involved. (pd/na)
