In the last three decades China has become a manufacturing superpower. This economic „explosion“ has resulted in high environmental costs.

China’s air and waste rare among the most polluted on the planet and it is a leading emitter of greenhouse gases. In order to address these problems the Ministry of Environmental Protection has said to make - over the next three years - 1 trillion Yuan (US$146 billion) available to tackle environmental pollution and to develop energy-saving technologies. Environmental protection and energy saving industries will become the new highlights of economic growth in this round of investment to boost domestic demand.
